I don't know if these are beetles or exactly what they are. They were on the underside of round gum leaves which were still wet from rain and humidity. About 2-3 metres off the ground. I think these two are the same species. Leaf Footed bug? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_leaf-footed_bug
Yes they are a bug which have mouth parts built like a straw for sucking and piercing while beetles have moth parts built for chewing. Did these bugs have a thin yellow cross on their backs?
