User's notes

I'm sorry in advance to spider lovers (and if its inappropriate to post a dead spider!). Can someone tell me what this spider is? I get them in my house in Spring and Summer on the floor. To me they always look scary especially when they are this size! (when standing it would have fitted on my palm). Is this a white tail even though it doesn't have a white tail? (this one crashed into a misty waterfall of cockroach spray and went to spider heaven).

This is not a white tailed spider. It looks like a wolf spider, Lycosidae sp. (family). I catch them in a bottle & put them back outside.

Thanks Michael. You're braver than me. I can't get within a meter of it when its alive. I will try and do better next time (and keep a jar with lid handy) but it scared the life out of me when I was on the loo!
