These stunning shrubs are quite big and run along the creekside. Are they some kind of Calothomus? Are they a native to this area or native to a different state/area? thanks in advance.
yes, these are Calothamnus or one-sided bottlebrush - native to WA - a garden escape .. I've never seen them before in the bush , i wonder how far they've spread ? they look nice anyway !
Thanks njones. I think they were planted about 30 years ago along the creekside and mostly ignored. It wasn't until the area was re-vegetated and turned into more of a woodland park / reserve more recently that the weeds/shrubbery around them have been removed and now they stand proud! I have not however seen a honeyeater on them.
