I struggled to get this smaller dragonfly in focus. It was half the size of the red ones and blended in easier in the grass. It was kind of gold and green.
This is a female. The males and females of the Black-faced Percher are similar sized. Not sure whether you were seeing some other species when you suggest the "red ones" were twice the size (cf record 4355783)
Thanks Harvey. Yes I meant a different species - the Wandering Perchers (if that's what the red ones I took also at same sight turn out to be. They were just bigger than I've seen them up to now and easier to get in focus than these ones!).
