Thanks Kylie - I am a small part of a Little Eagle research group studying birds in the Canberra area. We have attached satellite trackers to about a dozen birds. So far all males, fledglings and some of the females spend winter away from Canberra travelling to most parts of eastern Australia including Cape York, the Eyre Peninsula and Bundaberg before returning to the ACT to breed. Two birds have headed down to Melbourne, spending winter feasting on the pigeons and seagulls on the warehouse roofs of Melbourne Port. They reach Melbourne in the day flying via Albury and Late March early April is the time their passing through.

wow. sounds awesome Michael. I love Little Eagles. I know them really well. One bird over at Merimbula NSW accidentally miscalculated and ended up in the water at a wildlife sanctuary. It spent the whole day on top of an old wooden structure attempting to dry out its wings. People thought it was injured but was actually ok - just wet - it flew off in the late afternoon.
