User's notes

I would appreciate some help with the identification of this bird. Is was in an area of thick canopy near the lake and was on a branch 5 metres above the ground. It was a small to intermediate sized bird.

The bird looked like a brown hand knitted sock puppet with a quite distinctive stubby black and white tail.

My first thought was a juvenile starling? The tail feathers don't look fully formed

I thought juvenile starlings were solid pale brown? Could be wrong. Only seen a few.

The juvenile dusky woodswallow images look very similar. I have updated the ID to match.
