Thanks Stephen. I am part of a research team studying the ecology, breeding success and movement of the Little Eagle in the wider ACT region. The reddishness on some of the feathers suggest that this may be a recently fledged bird (in Canberra this usually happens in Mid December - February ). Satellite trackers on Fledglings have revealed that in their first few months of flight our birds have traveled to Cape York, Port Melbourne, Rockhampton and Port Pirie.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the comment and information. This was the first time I had seen the species and managed to grab a few quick photos as it flew overhead. Glad to hear that it will help your research.
Cheers, Stephen
