Historical. 2008. I looked this up at the time in books at the library and the only thing close was a "spricket". Does that even exist? That summer it stayed on my rose all season. But never seen it again.

Had to consult an expert on this but this is a Ephippipityha trigintiduoguttata nymph.
Though he has never seen a red one before. Pretty sweet find!

TYVM WingsTW! I've always wanted to know! It blended perfectly with the new growth of the rose so I wondered if by nibbling the leaves it was able to change that colour.?The garden was alot sunnier then.
